-My thoughts go to the summit of the gods-

Why do people climb mountains? Why do they continue seeking more danger, more fear, like addicts?

Is there any meaning in climbing to a higher place?
What is the meaning of risking one's life to reach a summit?

Reinhold Messner, one of the world's most famous mountain climbers, said in an interview:

"I will climb again. I can't help but keep climbing—when I am close to death, I start to feel strange sounds, phenomena, and hallucinations. Then a new side of me gently emerges, and the prospect of death becomes a whole new vision of life."

More than anything else, they love their lives.
They are incapable of loving an apparent peace that is only an absence of life.
They cannot be satisfied with just existing. They want to live.
That's why they climb. They can't help but keep climbing.

To sublimate their psychology and way of life into music, I made two albums in 2015, called "Alleingehen 2.0" and "The Salathé Wall." This album, "The Summit Of The Gods," is a continuation of those two albums, and could called the culmination of this theme that I have been working on for about six years.

The title was borrowed directly from the title of a novel by Baku Yumemakura. Along with Messner's words, reading this work greatly influenced me by helping me to understand the ethos of climbers.

I want you to feel the peaks of the gods, and the lives of people who dedicate themselves to the mountains: that is what lies beyond these excessive soundscapes, replete with atonality and unending rhythmic shifts.

GORGE, best described as an experimental electronic interpretation of rock climbing/mountaineering. Born in the mountains of Nepal and India, and developed in Japan, Gorge is only vaguely defined by its own secret codes and legends. Its purpose is to communicate the aesthetic and spiritual sublimity of rock climbing, and to explore the climbing route that leads to the summit of the gods. ... more
